Well, the win-win for Apple might not be as good as I had hoped from this excert from an article on CNet News…
However, Schiller said the company does not plan to let people run Mac OS X on other computer makers' hardware. “We will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac,” he said.

Apple announced today that they will be shipping systems based on Intel microprocessors by 2006. This cold be a good thing or it could be a bad thing for Apple. We just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
One good thing is that Steve Jobs, with the help of Intel's CEO, announced that the transition should be a smooth one. OS X has been compiled and running on the Intel platform for 5 years it was announced today. OS X is already platform independent and will apparently be available for both currrent PPC and future Intel based Mac machines.
Another positive announcement today was the release off XCode 2.1 which will produce a universal binary which works on both the PPC and Intel processors.
With the possibility of winning over many unhappy Windows customers who are a little afraid to go to Linux, this could be a very big win-win for Apple. We will just have to wait and see how it plays out.
