Apple – Internet you can trust?

I came across this picture at HardMac while surfing around today. This pretty much says it all. :)

Computer upgrade

I have found the ultimate in upgrades for my computer.
Unfortunately, you would need a small size house for a computer room to
use this display.

iPodderX 3.0.2

August and Ray have released the latest version of iPodderX
today.  Version 3.0.2 has several stability updates.  I have
been playing with it for the past 30 minutes and so far everything
seems to be pretty solid.

Zaurus sync issues – update

I found out today that Trolltech has a Mac version of Qtopia Desktop 1.7, which is the personal information manager written by Trolltech and used to sync with the Zaurus.

I got the Zaurus to sync this evening with no problems. However, I am not syncing anything really, because Qtopia does not import the iCal calendars or the Contacts from the Address Book in Tiger.

I wonder if anyone out there has a utility that will move items between the programs?

Enhanced Mac Mini and faster iBooks today

Apple today announced enhanced Mac Mini computers with built-in wireless and DVD burning.  Apple also announced faster iBook notebook computers with scrolling trackpad.

Now that I have the Power Mac, whenever I go on a vacation trip I miss
the Mac.  I have a laptop, but it is Wintel based.  I would
love to get an Apple notebook.  When I mentioned it to my better
half last night, she did not exactly give me the go-ahead on that
purchase decision.

The Death of Podcasting

The Death of Podcasting by ZDNet's Steve Gillmor — Podcasting, the underground movement begun by VH1 DJ Adam Curry and the irascible Dave Winer, is no more. The fledgling technology, actually nothing more than a bootstrap of the failed XML ASCII text scripting language, was dealt a fatal blow when Apple Computer, the Beatles' record company, released a version of it's iTunes copy protection [...]

Zaurus sync issues

In my previous post, I was talking about dusting off my Sharp Zaurus since I found a program that would allow me to sync between the Power Mac and the Zaurus. Unfortunately, I am having problems getting ZMacSync to work. I installed ZMacSync and the USB driver that is needed to see the Zaurus, but it does not see the Zaurus when I try to recognize it.

I have all the settings configured properly and ZMacSync acts like it has connected, but when I try to mount the Zaurus, I just get a blank Finder window. At this point, I am at a loss as to what is going on with it. I need to play around with it some more when I get time.

Dusting off the Zaurus

A few years ago, I purchased a used Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 from a co-worker. I have not used it at all for the past year or so. It has basically been sitting in its bag collecting dust. I came across a new program for the Mac tonight, though which made me break out the Zaurus.

The program that I came across is called ZMacSync. This program allows you to sync the Zaurus to your Mac running OS X Tiger. It will sync the contacts, calendar, and the time.

I am currently installing the latest OS on the Zaurus. When that is done, I am going to setup ZMacSync and see if I can get it working. It will be fun to have the use of the Zaurus again.

Does Intel’s compiler cripple AMD performance?

One of the claims in AMD’s sensational antitrust complaint against Intel has been getting some play around the web lately. Specifically, folks are focusing on what AMD says about Intel compilers and how they react to the presence of AMD processors. Here’s the meat of the claim, taken directly from the AMD complaint:
