Does Intel’s compiler cripple AMD performance?

One of the claims in AMD’s sensational antitrust complaint against Intel has been getting some play around the web lately. Specifically, folks are focusing on what AMD says about Intel compilers and how they react to the presence of AMD processors. Here’s the meat of the claim, taken directly from the AMD complaint:

    I’m not generally a conspiracy theory guy. But I suppose this could be true to some extent.

    Someone much smarter than I could disassemble part of the compiler’s assembler and then a couple of the compiled programs for each target.

    I shudder at the thought of walking through that code myself. ;-)

    It will be very interesting to see what comes out of the AMD vs Intel lawsuit over the next several months. I would imagine that this could last quite a long time.
