New keyboard tricks for OS X

Published by ksanders under OS X, Main Page

I was reading some posts at MacCast forums today and learned some new tricks to working with OS X using the keyboard.

  • Control-F2 - highlights the Apple menu. You can use the arrow keys to move between the different menu options.
  • Control-F3 - highlights the Finder in the Dock. You can then use the arrow keys to move between items in the Dock. Press enter to launch the selected application.
  • Control-F4 - scrolls through open window

Update: I came across another tip tonight if running a Power Mac. Use Option-Command-Eject to put your Mac to sleep.
