JRuby 1.0 released

If you have been using Java for some time, but have dabbled in Ruby as of late, you might be interested in knowing that JRuby 1.0 has been released. It provides a 100% pure-Java implementation of the Ruby programming language based on version 1.8.5 of the Ruby interpreter.

Adobe Reader 8.1 for Mac OS X

Adobe has recently released Adobe Reader v8.1.  This is their free software for viewing and printing Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files.  The new version include a host of new features including an entirely new interface on OS X and greatly improved performance.

OpenOffice 2.0 Alpha for Mac

OpenOffice.org has released their first Aqua based version for Mac.  Of course, in big red letters, they warn you that this version could trash your system and/or delete your data.  It is, of course, an alpha version.  However, considering how long we have waited, I think I will take the risk and try it out.
