It was announced today that Sun is purchasing MySQL for around $1 Billion (USD). This equates to $800 million for privately held stock and acquisition of another $200 million in remaining stock. I guess we will have to wait and see if this is a good deal for MySQL or if this will be the end of one of the best open source companies since 1995.

What a twit! I just don’t understand some people. Why would you post your bank account information in a public editorial about your denial of identity theft? How absurd is that? It would serve the person right if he got cleaned out.
Well, that is exactly what happened to Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear. His bank account was promptly debited for about £500 after his editorial was published. It really serves him right.
However, the thing that bothers me about this is the statement in the article about his mishap where Clarkson is quoted as saying, “The bank cannot find out who did this because of the Data Protection Act and they cannot stop it from happening again“.
What kind of security is this? Are you telling me that England has some kind of law that prevents authorities from capturing electronic thieves because it would break their Data Protection Act? Now that is the absurd part of this entire story!

Someone at work just mentioned that a co-worker emailed and said she had to return to the courthouse today for voir dire. From the dictionary, this term refers to the process by which lawyers selectively weed out prospective jurors to come up with the selected jurors for a trial. The term comes from Middle French.
