Zaurus sync issues - update

Published by ksanders under PDA, Main Page

I found out today that Trolltech has a Mac version of Qtopia Desktop 1.7, which is the personal information manager written by Trolltech and used to sync with the Zaurus.

I got the Zaurus to sync this evening with no problems. However, I am not syncing anything really, because Qtopia does not import the iCal calendars or the Contacts from the Address Book in Tiger.

I wonder if anyone out there has a utility that will move items between the programs?

Zaurus sync issues

Published by ksanders under PDA, Main Page

In my previous post, I was talking about dusting off my Sharp Zaurus since I found a program that would allow me to sync between the Power Mac and the Zaurus. Unfortunately, I am having problems getting ZMacSync to work. I installed ZMacSync and the USB driver that is needed to see the Zaurus, but it does not see the Zaurus when I try to recognize it.

I have all the settings configured properly and ZMacSync acts like it has connected, but when I try to mount the Zaurus, I just get a blank Finder window. At this point, I am at a loss as to what is going on with it. I need to play around with it some more when I get time.

Dusting off the Zaurus

Published by ksanders under PDA, Main Page

A few years ago, I purchased a used Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 from a co-worker. I have not used it at all for the past year or so. It has basically been sitting in its bag collecting dust. I came across a new program for the Mac tonight, though which made me break out the Zaurus.

The program that I came across is called ZMacSync. This program allows you to sync the Zaurus to your Mac running OS X Tiger. It will sync the contacts, calendar, and the time.

I am currently installing the latest OS on the Zaurus. When that is done, I am going to setup ZMacSync and see if I can get it working. It will be fun to have the use of the Zaurus again.
